What Makes A Great Website?

Tortuga Web Design in Ocean County New Jersey
As you design a brand new website for your start up [or simply redesigning your old-fashion site] you want to make sure that you do it right! If you don’t, you will be wasting time and money. But, what are they KEY things that you should consider? What will create the conversion you are looking for?

Sure simple is better these days, but there’s much more you should consider. Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when designing [or redesigning] your website:

1. Easy Navigation

Yes, you want the reader to see everything your company offers but having too many elements in a menu can be confusing and frustrating for users. If your users can’t easily get around on the page they will go somewhere else. The ideal navigation is direct, clear and easy to use.

2. The Right Colors

Color on a website is critical, and yet many people don’t realize that the colors you choose may be having the wrong effect on your users. Before you chose a color think on the following: What age group do you want to market to? Will your site be international? Male? Female? And always remember to keep it easy to read.\

3. Compelling Graphics

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” You must have strong images that talk about your business. Just be careful they are not making your page load slower; users will get frustrated and you will lose them.

4. Short and Sweet

Writing for the web is way different than writing for print. People don’t like to read too much. They skim online, especially when they first visit a page. Make the content of your page short and sweet but also provide enough detail for those who want to read further.

5. Search Engine Optimization

You have your site but it cannot be found on any search engine. While you could hire us for intense SEO a few things you can do yourself are: use the right keywords, monitor where you stand constantly & create great content.
